Valeton GP200R Multi Effects Modelling Processor

Note: This is the same model as the GP200, but in a red enclosure rather than black.

The GP200R by Valeton is a powerful all-in-one effects and amp rig, and a worthy competitor for the top spot in ticking every box for the modern guitarist.

The GP200R is designed to suit any player, in any live situation, boasting sleek design features, an intuitive and simple user interface, multiple routing and connection options, plus absolutely stunning inbuilt effects, amp models, cab sims, and IR slots.

The GP200R offers 140 legendary amplifiers and cabinet simulations and 100 virtual and well-renowned effects pedals, plus 20 factory cab IR slots. These are all very easy to switch, and you can craft your “chain” of up to 11 virtual units in any order, plus the GP200R features real amp-like control knobs for easy on-the-fly adjustments. In patch mode, you can build multiple rigs and quickly and easily switch between them; for example, you can change from strumming chords on a reverb-y Twin-style amp in your verses, to soaring leads on a boosted JCM-style amp with a touch of slapback delay for your solos, all at the touch of a single footswitch. Customise and personalise your exact specs to craft your ultimate rig, and take stadium-worthy tones anywhere you go.

Knowing the trials of the road, Valeton have created a very sturdy unit that can stand up to live use, and the bright lights and 4.3” LCD screen can be seen under any lighting conditions, with an intuitive, multi-language user interface. The upper footswitches use a smart protection to prevent accidental activation, and the lighting scheme of the switches make it clear what settings you're using, even at a glance. Plus, the cleverly designed optical sensor on the inbuilt expression pedal uses lighting to create a visual representation of the expression pedal sweep. All these optical and design features might seem flashy but they should not be overlooked, these are what make this more than just another effects pedal or interface and provide solutions to real-world problems when taking your gear out for gigs and tours!

Outside of live application, the GP200R also offers amazing usability for the solo musician at home, with an inbuilt 180 second phrase looper, a drum machine with over 100 patterns, plus a free editor suite and the ability to use your GP200R as an audio interface with your computer. You can manage your patches and presets, download and install new IRs and user-built and 3rd-party IRs, plus record direct using your favourite settings, giving you the exact same tones for the stage or in the studio!

Well Built but Software is Glitchy

By: on 1 March 2025
First impressions was it's a nicely built unit. After a month or two you quickly find out its a poor amp simulator as there are only 3 actual amp models; "clean", "muddy light overdrive" or "nasty buzzing mess" with everything else being just a variation of these three. Worst of all; my GP200R cuts off my Orange CR60W OD channels Gain, Bass, Mid, & Treble controls when I try to use my amps FX loop via the four cord method as described in the GP200 manual. Apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to as I found others in online forums who experienced this software glitch too. To get a good "professional" sound I'm forced to use the GP200R as just a front of amp unit with only 1/3 of the advertised effects available with the rest of the sound chain covered by the usual Boss units for equalizer, delay reverb etc in my amps FX loop. Valeton provides no real support info beyond it's sparse online manual and good Youtube videos on using the GP200R are far and few as well. The GP200R promises a lot but then does not deliver on the basics. Not recommended unless you have the time to tinker with flawed digital tech that demands immediate after purchase firmware "upgrades" to work properly.

Loving this modeller pedal. So easy to navigate & edit patches, and the effects and amp models IRs sound excellent for a product at this price. Stoked.

Valeton GP200R

I received this unit a few weeks ago. It's a bit if a learning curve for me, but so far I've tried it at home with my electric, and at church with both Bass and Acoustic Guitar. Bot times when I have run it out to the PA I've had favorable comments about the sound. I'm looking forward to playing out with the electric guitar as well. Very happy with it, and have already recommended it to other people as an option for them to consider.

Amazing value for money

By: on 7 December 2023
Bought this as a small bedroom/practice unit so I didn't have to keep using my main (big and heavy) pedalboard at home, and as a backup in case anything goes weird in my main board. Not only am I loving it at home, but I am also thinking of using it in the band as my main setup! Just sounds really good out of the box, and even better if you add some quality 3rd party cab IR's. It does have some limitations, the main one (for me) being you can only have one type of each effect in the chain (e.g. can't have 2 delays set up at the same time). But for a unit this price it is almost wrong to complain about anything!

Outstanding

I heard about this multi-effects on instagram, and everyone was praising it for delivering excellent sound and being really cheap. Now I can confirm, it's more than I expected and I'm totally happy with the purchase.

Great value

Excellent unit. The effects are excellent....are they the best.... maybe not but they are very good and the unit is exceptional value. There is a learning curve to this unit. Not everything is intuitive, but the end result is worth the effort. Weakness: drum machine but as I will never use it I don't care! I think Valeton should have just left the drums out. Looper is ok....works . Stomp feature is great.....you have 4 pedals per patch to tweak your effects.... turning up to 10 Fx on and off each time. Took it to practice last night and the band mates were blown away. Money aside, this unit does the business, add in the low cost and this unit is a winner all they way!! Great service as per usual from Artist.
