Fantastic Drum Pad

By: on 15 February 2024
I'd like to start by saying, Artist Guitars customer support if awesome. I accidentally ordered two units. They were friendly and helpful on the phone. Long story short, I had a refund for one unit, quick smart. The PD705 is a great unit. I have it paired with a Roland KD-8 kick trigger and an Artist Guitars pedal for Hi Hat. This drum pad requires a light touch. When I got it, I used 5A sticks, and kept triggering the second layer sounds. But with using 7A sticks, and normal stick articulation, keeps the triggering in the primary velocity range, with heavier sticking triggering the second. I lowered the threshold on the snare. Now it does a believable buzz roll. I jammed with it, outside the town hall of a small seaside town. We had an amped acoustic guitar and amped ukulele, mic'd singers and a harmonica player. The other players and audience liked the sounds that were being produced. Otherwise, the unit sits next to my DAW, where it's connected via usb, and I tap beasts in as midi. This unit is excellent bang for your buck. It's not feature rich, but it does do what it does, well. Final note. The stand is terrible. It keeps sliding down. I've put a house clamp on the shaft to hold it in place.
