Artist LP59 Gold Top Electric Guitar w/ P90 Pickups

The LP59GT90 features a Gold coloured top and two Cream "soapbar"-style P90 Pickups. These stacked P90 Pickups are coil-splitting, so using the push/pull control knobs they can be switched between normal P90s, and stacked, creating humbucker-like tones.

The Artist LP59GT90 guitar is a top-of-the-line guitar whether it be for gigging or recording and is definitely one of the best guitars on the market in relation to quality and price. This guitar has a great rock/ blues sound that easily produces that big fat fluid sound so typical of any top-end guitar of this style.

The African Mahogany body is finished off with a single-ply cream binding over a carved poplar cap, with a very thin basswood veneer that provides an ultra-smooth paint finish. The set neck is made of mahogany and features an eco-rosewood fretboard. The 22 fret neck is a comfortable "C" shape with trapezoid Mother of Pearl inlaid into the eco-rosewood fretboard. With the typical 24.75" scale length you are sure to bend notes as well as any blues or rock player going around.

The guitar is finished with an impressive Gold Top while the back is a clear polyurethane finish. It features deluxe hardware, with chrome locking tuners, a Tune-O-Matic Bridge with Roller saddles, and a Locking Stop Bar Tailpiece.

We also use the best electronic parts to reproduce the classic wiring configuration. 2 Volume and 2 Tone Control, standard 3-way toggle switch, Split Shaft 500K pots, 0.022uf ceramic capacitors and 1/4" Input Jack.

The factory strings are standard D'Addario EXL110 strings.

Artist LP59GT90 Gold Top

By: on 27 September 2023
Extremely happy with my purchase, how they can do this for the money is beyond me. I'm a full time musician and have a " real" Gold Top and wouldn't hesitate to pick up the Artist guitar and play a whole gig. The service from Artist was amazing, next day delivery. An all around good guitar buying experience.

Artist LP59GT90 Gold Top Electric Guitar w/ P90 Pi

By: on 9 March 2023
After having previously purchased a few Artist guitars (59 Les Paul, a Bullbucker equipped "telecaster" and a Jazzmaster inspired model, which I returned!), I was quite sceptical as to what I would find/experience with this particular instrument (despite the rave review from Peter Northcote), I'm happy to say that this guitar is everything that is claimed and said about it, immaculately finished, well balanced and very, very good sounding, although with the predictable and expected, drop in volume and change in tone when splitting the stacked-humbucker pickups to single-coil mode. I am not and have never been a fan of coil-splitting (if you want a single-coil sound, then buy a strat or a tele!) and I never use this this feature on any guitar (in fact I remove it if it is not too much trouble), so this feature is a non-starter for me. However, the sound of these stacked pickups is just great and I'm very happy with them, whether clean or distorted. The locking tuners are a real bonus as is the roller bridge. All in all I'm very happy and have no hesitation in recommending this guitar to anyone wanting this style of "Gibson" clone. If I have to nitpick, then there are two issues that I note but don't really comlain about or see as issues: (1) the guitar is reasonably heavy (although not as heavy as the Bullbucker tele - which I just couldn't live with despite its features) and (2), its not really a "goldtop", its more of a "bronze-top", it will be interesting to see how this colour develops with time and exposure to light. So not really anything to complain about, it is what it is and it is very, very good. So what we need now, is a Les Paul type guitar with mini-humbuckers in two-tone vintage sunburst, how about it Artist Guitars? As a Post Script, I have also had a fretless PJ style bass guitar which I couldn't fault apart from the lined fretboard (I understand that it is an economic decision to make only one type of neck and either fit frets of filler strips, but I don't like and cannot live with lined fretboards on a fretless bass, I find them far too distracting, unless I am playing in darkness! I have also recently purchased (second-hand) a seafoam green strat clone and it is just as good as the p90 LP, once again Peter Northcote's review is right on the money. I expect that the big names will be watching aghast at the offerings from companies such as Artist Guitars!
